Rules
- Photos must be unmounted and may be either black-and-white or color.
- All submitted photos must be printed on photographic stock and should be trimmed to 8” x 10” or 8½” x 11”.
- Original photos may be cropped for better composition (as long as the final product is still an 8” x 10” or 8½” x 11” print). Minimal manipulation of digital images with the intention of accurately rendering the subject is acceptable (e.g., small adjustments to brightness, contrast, color balance and/or sharpness, are acceptable. No other digital manipulation of an image is allowed.
- An electronic file of the photo must accompany the submission of each photo. Please send the electronic image file of only the photo being entered in the contest.
- Only one photo per student. (Multiple small photos on one 8.5” x 11” sheet are not allowed.)
- Only one student per entry. (Photo cannot be taken by two or more people.)
- The student must take the photo.
- The submission must include the following information BOTH on hard copy and on a CD (PC format: MS Word or Word Perfect):
- a) Student’s name and home mailing address; including city, state and zip code;
b) Student’s email address;
c) Student’s high school and complete school address;
d) School’s phone number;
e) Teacher’s name and email address;
f) Specify “Natural”or “Contrived” category for entry;
g) Essay of 250 words or less describing the physics in the photo. The essay should have a title and must be written by the student.
- Addresses are used for sending prizes and congratulatory letters. Email addresses and phone numbers are used for notification of entry receipt and clarification of any problems. The information will NOT be sold, distributed, or otherwise used for marketing purposes.
- Entrant grants AAPT all rights to the photos. Submissions will not be returned.
Any submission which does not meet the above criteria will not be considered. I have read the above rules and agree to all terms and conditions. I understand that if I omit or falsify information, or if I do not sign this form, I will not be eligible for this contest.
