World Year of Physics

wyp_logo_smIn commemoration of Einstein's extensive work in 1905, and in efforts to raise awareness of physics on a global scale, the European Physical Society (EPS) and the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) have designated 2005 the "World Year of Physics" (WYP).

On June 10, 2004, the United Nations proclaimed their support by declaring 2005 as the "International Year of Physics."

World Year of Physics 2005 will kick-off Jan. 13-15 in Paris with a conference at UNESCO headquarters. AAPT, AIP, and APS are proud to send four former members of the U.S. Physics Team to attend this launch conference.

A year-long series of events, exhibits and other physics-related activities are currently being scheduled on international, national and local levels. These events are being organized by a diverse group of people including science museums, physics departments at educational institutions, labs, community groups, and teachers.
