Physics Research and Education: Computation and Computer-based Instruction
Bryant University June 8-13, 2008
Join fellow members of AAPT, APS, and colleagues from other societies for the 2008 Gordon Research Conference (GRC) at Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
The 2008 GRC will focus on the expanding and deepening role of computers in physics research and undergraduate physics instruction. The weeklong conference will bring together physics researchers, undergraduate physics instructors, and physics education researchers to discuss current efforts to incorporate computational physics and other computer-based methods (such as simulations and visualizations) into the physics classroom. As with all GRCs, the format will include invited plenary sessions, contributed posters, and generous amounts of unscheduled time for informal discussions.
The conference chairs are grateful to AAPT for providing $4,000 through its Klopsteg Fund toward the previous GRC in 2006, supporting the overall mission of GRC to promote dialogue and cross-fertilization of ideas between educators and researchers at the forefront of their fields.
For further details or to apply to register for the conference, you may access the official GRC website. In addition, a companion website features additional information about the 2008 GRC as well as the accompanying theme issue of the American Journal of Physics. You are also invited to contact the co-chairs directly:
