Grants, Competitions & Awards
AAPT sponsors many competitions, grants, awards and other programs designed at fostering an interest in physics, a desire to excel in the study and instruction of physics, and a sense of community and teamwork in the physics education community. The following is a list of all competitive programs and opportunities sponsored by AAPT.
Contests and Competitions
Many of these programs are opportunities for students of physics and astronomy at the high school and/or university level, while some foster the development of materials to further physics instruction. Check the Contests and Competitions page for a complete list of the opportunities available.
Awards and Recognition Programs
AAPT offers several awards each year for physics and astronomy educators. Nominations for these awards are accepted throughout the year—those received by September 1 each year are considered for the following calendar year. Awards are given at the AAPT National Meeting each winter. Check the AAPT Awards page for a complete list of the awards and nomination instructions.
Grants and Scholarships
AAPT sponsors several grant opportunities for educators and a scholarship for an aspiring physics teacher. Check the Grants and Scholarships page for a complete list of the grants and scholarships available from AAPT.
