Biography
I was born in Margao, India but have lived in the United States for practically all my life. Initially, I lived in New Jersey, but at age 4, I moved to Pennsylvania, where I currently reside. I am a student at Parkland High School, where I take mostly AP classes and am a member of my school’s chess and academic quiz team.

However, of course my biggest interest lies in the realm of mathematics and physics. Like most of the other members of the U.S. Physics Team, I enjoy participating in a variety of mathematics and science competitions. My first national math competition was Mathcounts, which I did in the eighth grade. I was very happy to have placed 7th in the national competition, and ever since then I have taken part in many other competitions. For the past three years, I have participated in the U.S.A. Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO) and qualified for MOSP every time. Last year I had the privilege of placing in the top 12 of USAMO participants. Moreover, I have also been a member of the Lehigh Valley ARML team for three years and plan to do it for a fourth year now. This spring, I will go to the Clay Mathematics Institute and attend the Research Academy program, where I will study combinatorics.

Perhaps this is a little repetitive, judging from what I’ve heard from other participants, but the U.S.A. Physics Olympiad Semifinal Exam was definitely the most difficult physics test I’ve seen. Last year, I completed AP Physic C Mechanics in my school, but unfortunately, there is no AP Electromagnetism class offered in my school, so I had to learn that on my own. At the beginning of the tenth grade, I heard about the Physics Olympiad and decided to give it a shot. I knew enough to make it to the semifinal level, but my performance on the semifinal examination last year was not too impressive. I am happy to have mad it to camp this year.

Additionally, I play Indian classical music, which is quite different from western music. I play three instruments: harmonium (hand-pumped organ-like instrument), tabla (Indian drums), and violin. I also enjoy computer programming, particularly programming games and algorithms, and participate in the U.S.A. Computing Olympiad (USACO). Well I can’t wait to go to the physics camp and meet all of you!
