Title: Freefall Motion of a Projected Golf Ball
Student: Aaron Wasserman
School: Tamalpais High School, Mill Valley, CA
Teacher: David R. Lapp
In the photograph, the path of a ball is seen after it is hit by a golf club. The ball follows a nearly parabolic path until it first hits the ground. It then takes about two bounces before rolling out of the photograph. After each bounce, the ball follows the same type of curved (parabolic) path. This is because each time the ball leaves the ground, it free-falls back to the grass.
