The 2014 AAPT/PTRA (Physics Teacher Resource Agent) Trainer Institute will be held July 23-26, 2014 in Minneapolis, Minnesota just prior to the national AAPT summer meeting. The first meeting will be at 6PM on Wednesday, July 23 at the Courtyard Marriott (room TBD). The agenda is being finalized, but will include the following: updates on STEM probes and technology from Vernier, PASCO, and TI, recently developed Perimeter modules, and revision/development of PTRA topics to modules integrating technology, engineering, math as well as adaptations for elementary and middle school. The plan includes dividing the participants into groups to target specific content areas. A survey will be posted later for participants to indicate the area they would like to work on.
AAPT/PTRA will pay up to $500/person for travel. Special arrangements have been made with Delta (http://aapt.org/Conferences/
If you prefer, you may book through the travel agency. They have the names of those attending. There will be a service fee but if your cost is below $500 it will be folded into that cost. This will allow you to make travel arrangements without having to wait for reimbursement from AAPT. Participants are expected to cover all other expenses such as AAPT Summer Meeting registration. Payment of full registration for the summer meeting is also a requirement for participating in the leadership conference. It is suggested you register asap to get the cheaper rate. Housing information: You may stay wherever you want, but the headquarters for the conference is the Courtyard Minneapolis. The Commons hotel is also available and we are checking on the dorms.
