This picture clearly describes the properties of converging lenses. The way the two wine glasses are filled with water and strategically positioned in front of the blue bottle trap the inverted image of the bottle behind them. Converging lenses act like concave mirrors so when the object is past the focus (like in this picture), the image will be inverted. The combination of the angle at which the photo was taken and the distance the glasses and bottle are from each other gives an appearance of an ‘empty’ midsection of the bottle.
