Candidate Statement

I value my AAPT membership, because it has allowed me to grow professionally by interacting with my colleagues at conferences and through webinars and the journals. My teaching and my understanding of physics education have been significantly broadened through these interactions. As a former member of the AAPT Board, I worked with the rest of the Board to implement the strategic plan, which I support, including developing and supporting a culture that promotes and authentically demonstrates diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects the association. As with many professional associations, AAPT’s membership has been decreasing. We can turn this trend around by telling our colleagues about the benefits of AAPT membership. As a member of the presidential chain, I will continue to work to improve these benefits. You can help by providing feedback on which benefits you value most. As a volunteer organization, AAPT will be as great as we, together, make it .
