Commentary
I value my AAPT membership, because it has allowed me to grow professionally by interacting with my colleagues at conferences and through webinars and the journals. My teaching and my understanding of physics education have been significantly broadened through these interactions. If I am elected vice president, I plan to focus on increasing the diversity of both physics educators and students and the inclusiveness of physics education. As with many professional associations, AAPT’s membership has been decreasing. We can turn this trend around by telling our colleagues about the benefits of AAPT membership. As a member of the presidential chain, I will continue to work to improve these benefits. You can help by providing feedback on which benefits you value most. As a volunteer organization, AAPT will be as great as we, together, make it.
