Summer 2024 AAPT Fellows

College Park, Maryland, United States, March 11, 2024—The 2024 AAPT Fellows Awardees have been announced. AAPT Fellows are distinguished physicists, educators, administrators, and communicators who have been recognized for their contributions to the physics education community.

The 2024 Summer Fellows are:
Jennifer Blue, Professor of Physics and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Science, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio
Citation: For her pioneering investigations aimed at understanding the impact of physics teaching on minoritized populations to establish, and encourage others to establish, a sound research basis that will lead to solving the physics DEI anomaly.
Juan Burciaga, Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics, The Colorado College, Colorado Springs, Colorado
Citation: For his longstanding commitment to improving diversity, equity, and inclusion in the physics community and for his prolific contributions in the scholarship of teaching an learning physics for all, Juan Burciaga is named as an AAPT Fellow.
Stephanie Chasteen, Independent Consultant of CHASTEEN EDUCATIONAL CONSULTING, Boulder, Colorado
Ciatation: For contributing a litany of tools stemming from physics education research that deeply impact the teaching a learning of physics at multiple levels.
Brad Conrad, former director of the Society of Physics Students, and currently the Education and Workforce Manager National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, Maryland
Citation: For his long standing dedication to the success of undergraduate physics students and their mentors by engaging students in countless professional development opportunities Brad Conrad is named as an AAPT Fellow.
Tatiana Erukhimova, Marsha L. and Ralph F. Schilling Chair for Physics Outreach and Instructional Professor, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas
Citation:For her dedication to increasing the enthusiasm for the study of physics through dedicated and highly awarded teaching, and for creating new and exciting open access resources for educators and students Tatiana Erukhimova is named as an AAPT Fellow.

About the Award
The criterion for selection of Fellows is exceptional contribution to AAPT's mission, to enhance the understanding and appreciation of physics through teaching. Fellowship is a distinct honor signifying recognition by one's professional peers. Any AAPT member who has maintained an active membership for at least 7 years is eligible for nomination for Fellowship. Nominations are evaluated by the AAPT Awards committee and approved by the AAPT Board of Directors.
