AAPT Virtual Coffee Hour

  • Description: Facilitators for the discussion:
    • Betsy McIntosh, Jennifer S. Avena, Laurie Langdon, Valerie Otero are faculty at the University of Colorado Boulder and lead the University of Colorado Boulder (CU) Boulder Learning Assistant Program. Tyler Wylie is an undergraduate LA at CU Boulder in Biology and Chemistry. Leina Giger is an undergraduate LA at CU Boulder in Psychology.
    • Mel S. Sabella is a faculty member at Chicago State University, co-directs the CSU LA Program and is the Past President of the AAPT.
    Learning Assistants and Teaching Assistants can serve as a part of the instructional team to support active learning in remote settings. They can support synchronous, asynchronous, and hybrid environments. In the synchronous component, for example, they can lead breakout sessions and hold virtual office hours. Participants and hosts will engage in discussion on strategies, successes and challenges in teaching and learning in a remote setting and talk about lessons learned from the Spring semester.
