Physics Belonging and Access Council

The Physics Belonging and Access Council is the overarching AAPT governing body that:

  • Provides long-term strategic oversight of AAPT’s Roadmap & sub-structures that focus on high-quality physics access for everyone.
  • Collects and responds to urgent member questions and feedback around access, belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion (through established processes), bringing important concerns to the forefront.
  • Aligns all AAPT efforts to advance physics access by promoting collaboration and breaking down silos.
  • Serves as a hub to track, evaluate, and communicate progress, to AAPT Members, on efforts around creating physics spaces, in the community, the organization and the classroom, where all are welcome.
  • Centralizes institutional knowledge around access, belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Holds AAPT leadership, processes and structures accountable to the mission and values of the organization around belonging and access.
