Each year, AAPT and the American Institute of Physics (AIP) sponsor a competition for high school students to represent the United States at the 2012 International Physics Olympiad Competition. The mission of the U.S. Physics Team Program is to promote and demonstrate academic excellence through preparation for and participation in the International Physics Olympiad. Read more... 7/11/12 The IPho 2012 Ceremonies (Opening and Closing) will be broadcasted over the Internet. The IPhO 2012 broadcasting information will be in our webpage www.ipho2012.eeThe Opening Ceremony broadcast will start on the 16th of July at 10:00 (GTM +2) a.m. The Closing Ceremony broadcast will start on the 23rd of July at 02:00 (GTM +2) p.m. We also broadcast the lecture of Sir Harald Kroto on the 20th of July at 05:00 (GTM +2) p.m. 7/10/12 The Traveling Team is preparing to leave for Estonia and Estonia is preparing for them. Next week at this time they will all be taking part in the 2012 International Physics Olympiad. IPhO has posted an introductory newsletter.
6/13/2012 5/10/12 Going for Gold in Estonia: AAPT Announces the 2012 U.S. Physics Team 5/9/12 The 2012 US Physics Team has been selected. Meet the team members. 3/23/12 Click here for Semi-finalists questionnaire. Semi-finalists must complete this questionnaire by March 28th to be considered for the US Physics Team. 2/23/12 Semi-finalists have been selected! View a list of Semi-finalists here. The cutoff score to qualify for the Semi-finals is 15.5 on the F=ma exam, teachers will receive an email with a link to view their students scores. The Semi-final exam will be emailed to teachers by March 2nd, the dates for the exam to be given are March 5-23, 2012. Semi-finals are due back at the AAPT office by March 28th.
