First Timers and Early Career Meetup (Registration Encouraged)

Begin your Summer Meeting experience at the First Timers and Early Career Meetup — a welcoming event designed to support new attendees and early career professionals. Connect with peers, engage with experienced members, and start building meaningful relationships within the AAPT community. This is an excellent opportunity to ask questions, gain insights, and feel more confident navigating the meeting. We look forward to welcoming you as you kick off your Summer Meeting journey.

When: Sunday, July 19 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM

Career Speed Networking Event (Registration Encouraged)

Career development and networking can be time consuming, so AAPT is offering a fun and exciting way to get connected to a large number of early career and seasoned physics professionals in a short amount of time. Speed networking provides the opportunity to discuss career goals and challenges with a new contact for five minutes, exchange information, and then move on to the next person. By the end of the event, each participant will have meaningful interactions with over half a dozen colleagues and the opportunity to meet many more. If you think you made a good contact, follow up with the person and schedule a time to meet for coffee. It’s that simple! By the end of the first day of the conference, you’ll have already made several personal connections with other attendees. If you have business cards, don’t forget to bring them.

When: Sunday, July 19 from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM

When: Tuesday, July 21 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM

Attend a Feynman Lecture on Physics! (Offsite - Registration Required)

James Lincoln (AAPT Films) portrays Richard Feynman, accent and all, in this one-hour lecture on physics taking place in the same CalTech lecture hall that Richard Feynman delivered his famous lectures in 1962-1963. Richard Feynman (1918-1988) is often regarded as the greatest teacher of physics and brought hijinks and eccentricities along with his science instruction. In this lecture, Lincoln celebrates the mannerisms, energy, charisma, and gusto of the Nobel Prize winning professor as he might have been when he stood in the same place all those years ago. Thanks to support from the CalTech physics department and the Feynman estate.

You are responsible for your own transportation.

When: Tuesday, July 21 from 8:30 PM to 9:15 PM

Game Night

Unwind and connect with fellow attendees at Game Night! Bring your favorite board games, card games, or other tabletop games to share, and enjoy an evening of fun and friendly competition. It's the perfect opportunity to relax, meet new people, and make lasting memories. Don't forget to bring a game to join the fun!
