
PTRA Summer Bootcamp 2026: Empowering Physics Teacher Leaders Apply Now
Workshop Overview:: This intensive three-day professional development workshop is designed for physics educators ready to take the next step in their professional journey by becoming effective teacher leaders. Led by experienced PTRAs, this year’s Bootcamp focuses on learning how to design and facilitate high-impact PD sessions—moving beyond experiencing PD to confidently leading it in local schools and districts. Participants will engage in collaborative learning, hands-on practice, and reflective exercises that prepare them to create engaging, effective, and equitable professional development experiences tailored to their colleagues' needs.
Integrated with the AAPT Summer Meeting:
The Bootcamp is integrated with the 2026 AAPT Summer Meeting, giving participants the opportunity to connect with the broader physics education community, attend relevant sessions, and immediately apply insights to their PD leadership practice. Registration for the AAPT Summer Meeting is included.
Target Audience:
Current physics teachers—particularly early- to mid-career educators—who aspire to become teacher leaders and play an integral role in shaping professional development in their schools, districts, and communities.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will be working towards the skills and confidence to:
- Lead and facilitate teacher-driven PD sessions with confidence.
