FAQ's for the Summer Meeting

Location

What are the dates of the Summer Meeting?
The meeting will take place July 9-13, 2022.

Where will the Summer Meeting take place?
The meeting will take place at the Devos Place Convention Center, 303 Monroe Avenue, NW, Grand Rapids, MI  49503.

What is the main hotel?
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Amway Grand Plaza, 187 Monroe Avenue NW, Grand Rapids, MI  49503.  The Amway Grand Plaza is connected to the Devos Place Convention Center.

What is the hotel cut-off date? 
The last day to book a room is June 14, 2022.  We suggest that you book your room early, since the hotel can sell out before the cut-off date. Click here to make a reservation. 

What is the Amway Grand Plaza's cancellation policy?
Cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to arrival in order to avoid a one night's room and tax fee.

Registration 

Will there be a registration fee for the Summer Meeting?
There will be a registration fee for the Summer Meeting.  Registration will open soon. 

Is AAPT membership required to attend the 2022 AAPT Summer Meeting?
AAPT membership is not required to attend the summer meeting, however, the registration rate is lower for AAPT members.

How long will my membership or renewal take to process?
A new membership or membership renewal will take 48 hours to process before the member rate will be available. 

Do I need tickets to attend events or sessions?
Your 2022 AAPT Summer Meeting badge will be required for access to all sessions, workshops and the exhibit hall. You will need to obtain tickets to attend some special events.

Will Grants be available to help with the cost of registration?
A number of grants will be available to help with the cost of attending the Summer Meeting. 


MISC

What is the attire for the meeting?
Casual attire is recommended.  Comfortable shoes and a sweater or jacket are also recommended.

Will I be photographed or videotaped?
AAPT takes photos and videos at this meeting.  By registering, you give AAPT permission to use any photos or video taken at the conference in which you appear. 

Workshops

Will workshops take place during the meeting?
Workshops will be held July 9-10. at Grand Valley State University (transportation provided from the conference hotel).  CEU hours will be available. 

Speakers

How will I know if my abstract has been accepted?
All abstracts will be accepted. You will not receive a notification. 

When will the schedule be available?
The schedule will be available on our website in mid-May. 

Are speakers required to register to be eligible to present?
All contributed talks, posters presenters and invited member speakers, including recently lapsed members (within the last five years) are required to register for the meeting in order to present. 

I am not able to present at a virtual meeting. How do I cancel my abstract?
If you are not able to present at the virtual summer meeting and need to cancel your abstract, please e-mail programs@aapt.org.
